WORLD OCEAN CELEBRATION
ART DIRECTION + DESIGN
ART SAIL + Blue Scholars Initiative
What is it?
A full-scale branding project for World Ocean Celebration, designed to create a lasting visual identity for an event that blends conservation, art, science, and activism. From logo design to a flexible design system, I developed an identity that could evolve with the organization—spanning everything from pitch decks to event signage, social media, and future activations.
What DID I DO?
I led the creative direction and design, crafting a logo mark and a system of cascading graphic elements that captured both the vastness of our oceans and the warmth of community engagement. The logo’s illustrations became the foundation for a dynamic pattern design, allowing the branding to feel immersive and adaptable across various applications. Ensuring the brand could support everything from hands-on beach cleanups to expert-led panels. Knowing this system needed longevity, I created a framework that allows for expansion while staying visually cohesive across all future initiatives.
HOW DID I DO IT?
Having been commissioned as an artist for the event the year before, I had firsthand insight into the organization’s mission and impact. That experience shaped my approach—I worked closely with the clients through multiple rounds of refinement, ensuring every element aligned with their vision. I applied a holistic design-thinking process, moving from illustration to structured brand development, carefully selecting a typeface that was welcoming yet strong, and curating a color palette that could flex across diverse event settings. The result? A timeless, scalable identity that will support World Ocean Celebration for years to come.
